Rockville, MD—The Board of Directors of Montgomery County (MD) Delta Alumnae Foundation, Incorporated (MCDAF) has announced plans to dissolve the 501(c)(3) organization, effective April 1, 2020. The organization, founded in 1998 by Montgomery County (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated (MCAC), has served youth, families, and the elderly residing in Montgomery County, Maryland for over 20 years. The cessation of the organization is due, in part, to declining community and financial support.

Throughout its history, MCDAF has partnered with numerous organizations throughout Montgomery County and received generous support from countless donors and sponsors. Since 2014, MCDAF has awarded over $20,000 in grant funds to area 501(c)(3) organizations, and more than $9,000 in community sponsorships and gap scholarships. Two years ago the organization began recognizing outstanding community leaders and activists in the county. Also in 2018, a $25,000 Endowment Scholarship was established for ACES (Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success) students attending Montgomery College. MCDAF is pleased to announce that the endowment will be fully funded in the first quarter of 2020.
